About Us

DaweB Education & Elderly Support is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service and the State of California as tax-exempt. The organization serves communities across Ethiopia through structured programs focused on education access, support for mothers and caregivers, elder wellbeing, and community strengthening

Our work is mission-driven, documented, and designed for long-term impact rather than short-term relief.

In this photo, local official Mr. Boru Dida of Yabello, Ethiopia, presents Habibo Ali with a traditional cultural outfit, slippers, and a walking stick—known in Afaan Oromo as a siiqee—as a gesture of honor and appreciation. The presentation took place during the distribution of educational materials in July 2025.

Our Origin

DaweB formalizes years of sustained community-based work led by Ms. Habibo Ali.

Beginning in at least 2018, Ms. Ali personally financed and coordinated structured initiatives across rural districts including Yabello and Burji. These initiatives included:

✔ Educational support for approximately 90
students across four kebeles.

✔ Payment of school registration fees, uniforms, and supplies.

✔ Direct financial assistance to mothers facing hardship.

✔ Emergency food relief during famine conditions.

✔ Construction of safe housing for elderly individuals in deteriorating living conditions.

✔ Provision of mobility aids and dignity supplies.

These efforts were implemented in her personal capacity before formal nonprofit registration.

The establishment of DaweB transitions this sustained individual commitment into a structured nonprofit institution with governance, documentation systems, and scalable capacity.

Our Mission

DaweB works to support communities across Ethiopia through education, care for all ages, and whole-person assistance grounded in respect and fairness. We serve children, the elderly, women, and others facing obstacles by broadening access to learning, opportunity, and connection. We advance this mission through programs that:

  1. Support formal and informal education for both youth and adults

  1. Offer respectful and caring services for older adults

  1. Provide women and caregivers with financial tools, community support, and wellness resources

We serve:

Children seeking access to education.

Elderly individuals requiring dignity and support.

Women and caregivers facing economic barriers.

Communities seeking stability and opportunity.

We advance this mission through programs that:

Support formal and informal education.

Provide respectful and structured elder care.

Offer financial and stabilization support for women and caregivers.

We are guided by compassion, inclusion, and shared responsibility, building a future where no one is left behind.

Our Founding Values

DaweB’s work is grounded in principles shaped by lived experience and sustained community engagement.

Empathy Through Experience

The founder’s migration journey informs a deep understanding of instability, transition, and the importance of opportunity. This perspective reinforces the belief in second chances and long-term support systems.

Support for Mothers & Caregivers

When mothers and caregivers are supported, household stability improves and long-term outcomes strengthen. Empowering caregivers creates measurable ripple effects across communities.

Education as Empowerment

Education strengthens not only the individual child, but also families and communities. Expanding access to learning creates sustainable opportunity.

Accountability & Transparency

Impact must be documented and traceable. DaweB maintains school registration records, financial tracking, and photo and video documentation of housing builds and food distributions to ensure responsible stewardship and trust.

Dignity in Aging

Older adults deserve safety, respect, and comfort. Elder support initiatives are designed to protect dignity and promote independence, especially where family support is limited.

Scaling & Grant Readiness

Transitioning from personal initiative to nonprofit structure enables responsible growth. Formalization supports partnership development, grant compliance, standardized reporting, and expanded geographic reach.

Our Approach

DaweB operates through structured implementation.

Our model includes:

  • Defined beneficiary selection criteria

  • Community-based identification processes

  • Financial tracking and expense documentation

  • Photo and record-based verification
