DaweB Education & Elderly Support

Supporting Education. Protecting Dignity. Strengthening Communities in Ethiopia.

DaweB Education & Elderly Support is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service and the State of California as tax-exempt. The organization serves communities across Ethiopia through structured programs focused on education access, support for mothers and caregivers, elder wellbeing, and community strengthening.

Our Purpose

DaweB exists to support communities through:

✔ Formal and informal education

✔ Respectful and structured elder care

✔ Support for women and caregivers

✔ Community-based development initiatives

We focus on expanding opportunity, protecting dignity, and strengthening long-term stability.

Our Foundation

DaweB Education & Elderly Support formalizes years of direct, community-based work led by Ms. Habibo Ali.

Beginning in at least 2018, Ms. Ali personally financed and coordinated structured support initiatives in rural districts of Ethiopia, including the Yabello and Burji regions. What began as assistance to a single student expanded into multi-community support across education, food security, elder care, and household stabilization.

Documented impact to date has included:

✔ Educational support for approximately 90
students across four kebeles.

✔ Payment of school registration fees and provision of
uniforms, textbooks, and supplies.

✔ Direct financial assistance to mothers experiencing
economic hardship.

✔ Emergency food distributions during periods of acute food insecurity, including large-scale birr mobilizations.

✔ Construction of housing for elderly individuals living in unsafe or deteriorating conditions.

✔ Provision of mobility aids such as walking canes and other essential supports.

Cumulative personal investment has ranged between approximately $5,000
and $10,000 USD, with individual food-relief distributions exceeding 50,000 birr per deployment.

Narrative WHY DaweB started.

The impact described above reflects the work that has already been carried out. The following section explains the story behind these efforts and why DaweB was ultimately established as a formal organization.

All activities were originally implemented with informal documentation, including school records, receipts, photographs, and community verification. The establishment of DaweB Education & Elderly Support transitions these sustained personal efforts into a formal nonprofit structure with:

✔ Defined program pillars

✔Clear beneficiary selection criteria

✔ Financial tracking and reporting systems

✔ Structured documentation and archiving

✔ Board governance and strategic oversight

✔ Monitoring and evaluation processes

✔ Capacity for grant management and partnership compliance

Formalization strengthens scalability, transparency, and accountability. It enables DaweB to pursue institutional partnerships with NGOs, government agencies, and philanthropic entities while maintaining disciplined stewardship and mission alignment .

This transition represents a shift from individual initiative to institutional capacity — positioning DaweB to expand geographic reach, increase the number of beneficiaries served, standardize reporting, and generate measurable, long-term impact across Ethiopia.

The distribution was organized by her sister-in-law, Ms. Tigist Andarge, in collaboration with Borena Zone Health Officer Kabale Jatani, the Borena Zone administration, and Mr. Bonaya Wariyo, Administrator of Daka Kake Kebele, providing essential food assistance to families facing urgent needs.

✔ Carefully planned

✔ Financially documented

We are committed to transparency, accountability, and disciplined stewardship of all resources.

On July 15, 2024, Habibo Ali joined local leaders and community members at Gadayo Galigalo Primary and Secondary School for a school supply distribution. Pictured at the center is Habibo Ali in traditional dress, alongside Yabello Town Mayor Mr. Boru Dida.
